At Trafomatic Audio we never sit still and rest on the past glories. As technology moves forward we’re searching for the new solutions and refinements that can push the sound and performance further on and closer to the real musical experience. Even the smallest change can evoke a drastic change in the sonic behavior and while it’s easy to introduce new things, objectively elevating the original product to the higher plane is quite a task for any audio designer.
Experience Two MK II – Tube Integrated Amplifier is a step forward into the realms of pure triode sound. With no global negative feedback and direct-heated circuit, we’ve still believe how 300B remains both unique and fantastic sounding tube with no proper matching. When it comes to the purity there is very narrow path to be taken with the tube selection and 300B still holds the glories throne. Every tube connoisseur will cherish Mundorf MLytic HV type , point to point wiring, Van de Hul internal wiring and more.
Experience Two MK II implements special C-L-C-L -C three choke type or regulation where one choke cover both channels with additional two taking care of left and right signal path separately. We’re proud about our ways of doing things resulting in an uncompromising sound performance, following the real musical DNA. And that is what Experience Two MK II is all about: Purity and uncompromising experience.
About 300B tubes: Trafomatic Audio is one of the very few manufacturers who does understand the 300B story. As we probably all know, it once started with the Western Electric 300B, a true mesh grid 300B tube: copied by many, succeeded only by a few. The reason it is so hard to make these tubes nowadays is the Mesh Grid Anode, woven wires which gives the true 300B sound: open, detailed and rich, very rich. Several manufacturers claim to deliver 300B’s with a mesh grid, but at the end these are nothing more than plates with some wholes punched in. Not even close to a real Mesh Grid:
– a mesh grid- – a punched plate grid-
One of the very few manufacturers of true Mesh Grid 300B tubes is Emission Labs. With these tubes you get the true 300B sound. Amazingly sounding, and when used correctly build to last like forever. Any downsides? Yes, there is one (or maybe 2 if you consider the price…)!
To replace a 300B by the Emission Labs 300B-Mesh, be sure the mesh tube is run at following conditions:
Recommended: 22 Watt Plate dissipation.
Absolute maximum: 28 Watt Plate dissipation.
This is 70% of what is done with standard 300B in most of the cases.
We at Trafomatic Audio took building our Experience Two mk II one step further: it is prepared for these amazing tubes, you simply need to switch a toggle, and you are there!
